This project aims to create a temporary, immersive art installation in the lush Harmony Gardens of Ilorin, Nigeria. The centerpiece will be a series of interwoven, illuminated sculptures inspired by the traditional Adire textile patterns and the iconic Ilorin Dye Pits. Using eco-friendly materials and solar-powered LED lights, the installation will transform the garden into a nighttime wonderland, symbolizing the city's blend of history and modernity. Local artisans will collaborate to weave fabric elements into the sculptures, while an ambient soundscape of Ilorin's traditional music (like Apala and Fuji) will play softly in the background. What makes this project unique is its deep connection to Ilorin's heritage and its community-centric approach. We will host two open workshops for residents to contribute small fabric strips to the sculptures, fostering a sense of ownership and collective creativity. The installation will be documented via time-lapse photography and drone footage for a final short film. This portfolio-worthy piece will showcase the creative talent's ability to merge traditional craftsmanship with contemporary visual storytelling, creating a memorable experience that celebrates Ilorin's identity.
