This project reimagines opera as a participatory, mobile experience. We will stage a 20-minute contemporary opera performed by three singers and a beatboxer, broadcast through wireless headphones to a 'silent' audience of 30-50 people. The performance takes place on a single-decker night bus travelling through London's most iconic streets, with the audience boarding at undisclosed locations. The libretto is inspired by real stories from night workers—nurses, cleaners, bakers—collected via social media. The finale erupts at the steps of St Paul's Cathedral at dawn, where the audience removes their headphones and joins the performers in a collective song, creating a surprising, ephemeral moment of community.
