Project Brief

This project captures the soul of Manchester by weaving together its architectural landmarks and vibrant street art scene. Using a vertical format optimized for social media, the film takes the viewer on a dynamic journey from the ground up—beginning with the gritty textures of street-level murals in the Northern Quarter, ascending through the Victorian brickwork of the city's industrial past, and culminating in the modern glass facades of Spinningfields. The narrative follows a day in the life of a local street artist who finds inspiration in the city's ever-changing skyline, creating a new piece that reflects Manchester's industrial heritage and contemporary creative energy. What makes this project unique is its fusion of traditional documentary storytelling with a bold, vertical composition that challenges conventional filmmaking norms. The film will employ a mix of time-lapse, drone footage (with permissions), and intimate close-ups to create a visceral sense of place. By focusing on the contrast between the old and new, the grit and the glamour, the project celebrates Manchester's resilience and its status as a global hub for art and music. The final deliverables will include a 3-minute vertical film for Instagram/TikTok, a 60-second vertical trailer, and a behind-the-scenes photo series.
