This project connects the distinct energy of Hull, a city of maritime heritage and industrial grit, with the cosmopolitan pulse of London. The core concept is an exchange: a team of three performers from Hull will travel to London, and three performers from London will travel to Hull. Each group will create a short, site-specific performance piece inspired by the other's city. The Hull team will explore London's East End, using its layered history of immigration and trade to create a piece juxtaposed with Hull's own docks and fishing heritage. The London team will respond to Hull's Old Town, its cobbled streets, and the iconic Humber Bridge, weaving in themes of connection and distance. The project culminates in a simultaneous, live-streamed double premiere: one performance at The Deep in Hull and another at a London venue like The Yard Theatre in Hackney Wick. This creates a compelling, portfolio-worthy exploration of identity, place, and the performing arts as a bridge between communities.
