River Rhythms is a creative project that explores the acoustic landscapes of two iconic UK cities connected by water and industry. The project will produce two complementary musical pieces—one for London, one for Hull—created entirely from field recordings captured at significant locations in each city, layered with vocals and instrumentation from local musicians. The London track will focus on the contrast between historic landmarks and modern urban energy, while the Hull piece will highlight the city's maritime heritage and post-industrial regeneration. What makes this project unique is its dual-city approach and commitment to authentic sonic storytelling. We'll capture everything from the echo of footsteps in Hull's historic Old Town alleyways to the distinctive hum of London's Tube stations, transforming these everyday sounds into compelling musical compositions. The final deliverable will be a digital EP accompanied by visualizers featuring footage from recording locations, creating a multisensory portrait of place that resonates with current trends in location-based art and immersive audio experiences.
