Northern Quarter Night is a one-night immersive event blending live theatre, real-time illustration, and audience participation. Showcasing Manchester's iconic independent district, the project turns Stevenson Square and surrounding streets into a stage where performers and visual artists create spontaneous, site-specific works. Audiences are guided through a narrative journey, experiencing performances in shop windows, alleyways, and street corners, while illustrators capture the action live, projecting their work onto building facades. This project leverages the raw, industrial-chic vibe of the Northern Quarter—known for its street art, vintage shops, and creative energy. By combining theatrical performance with live visual art, the event creates a portfolio-worthy, shareable experience that celebrates Manchester’s underground culture. The small team will collaborate to design the route, rehearse performances, and coordinate the projection mapping and live illustration. The final outcome is a documented live event including professional photos, a short highlight video, and a set of original illustrations that capture the night’s energy—perfect for social media and future festival pitches.
