Project Brief

This project brings together the distinct creative energy of Hull and London to create a powerful, site-specific performance piece. The concept is a journey: we start in Hull, at the iconic Humber Bridge, where a performer begins a monologue about leaving home. Two more performers join, and together they 'travel' to London, using movement, spoken word, and live soundscapes to represent the changing landscape and emotional shifts. The final performance takes place at a stunning London location, like the Southbank Centre or a Thames-side pier, where the piece culminates in a collective expression of identity, belonging, and the connection between these two cities. What makes this unique is the fusion of the local culture of Hull—its maritime history and gritty charm—with the fast-paced, diverse energy of London. The performance will be a raw, emotional, and visually striking experience that feels both intimate and epic. The team will work together to create a 15-20 minute piece that can be performed in both cities, with the possibility of live-streaming or recording a version for online audiences. This is a portfolio-worthy project that showcases creativity, collaboration, and the ability to tell a compelling story through the performing arts.
