Project Brief

This project captures the poetry of the daily commute by transforming the iconic London Underground into a series of silent, visual vignettes. Using only natural light, reflections, and the rhythm of movement, the film will explore the contrast between the city's Victorian infrastructure and the modern faces that pass through it. Each scene is a carefully composed portrait of a moment—a dancer in a tunnel, a model's silhouette against a tiled wall, the echo of footsteps on a platform—all set to a haunting original score. The concept is rooted in the idea of 'urban anonymity' and the beauty of overlooked details. We will shoot across multiple stations, from the ornate tiling of Baker Street to the brutalist geometry of South Kensington, using slow motion, macro shots, and double exposures to create a surreal, dreamlike quality. The final piece will be a 5-7 minute silent film with a live-recorded soundtrack, designed to be exhibited both online and at a pop-up screening in a disused tunnel or gallery. What makes this unique is the collaboration between director, musician, model, and content creator: the director crafts the visual narrative; the musician composes and performs the score live to the edited footage; the model becomes a living sculpture within the environment; and the content creator documents the behind-the-scenes process for social media, building anticipation and a portfolio of 'making-of' content.
