Silent Echoes is a 20-minute, roving physical theatre piece that transforms Valletta's overlooked corners—a crumbling staircase, a shadowy piazza, a hidden courtyard—into a stage. The performance follows a 'memory keeper' character who, through a series of vignettes, re-enacts fragments of daily life from different eras: a Baroque merchant, a British soldier, a WWII child. The audience is guided from location to location, creating an intimate, immersive experience. The work is inspired by the juxtaposition of Malta's rich, layered history and its modern, often tourist-saturated present. It aims to reveal the poetry in the city's neglected spaces and invite locals and visitors to see Valletta anew. The piece is entirely non-verbal, relying on expressive movement, simple props (fabric, a lantern, chalk), and the ambient sounds of the city (footsteps, distant bells, wind).
