This project is an experimental short film that uses the River Thames as a living canvas. Over the course of two weeks, we will film at various points along the Thames—from the industrial grit of Deptford Creek to the gleaming glass of Canary Wharf—at dawn and dusk, capturing the interplay of light, water, and urban life. The film will be entirely non-narrative, relying on striking compositions, slow motion, and ambient sound to create a meditative, cinematic experience. The unique angle is the 'tidal diary': we'll film the same locations at different tides, revealing how the river's pulse changes the city's face. This project leverages the current trend of 'slow cinema' and the growing appreciation for hyperlocal, environmental storytelling. The final piece will be a portfolio-worthy work suitable for film festivals, galleries, or brand collaborations focused on London's identity. Our small team will work in tight, efficient shoots—no more than 4 hours per session—using minimal gear to stay nimble. The result will be a visually stunning, emotionally resonant piece that feels both timeless and utterly contemporary.
