Project Brief

This project re-contextualizes Manchester's legacy as a textile and industrial powerhouse into a futuristic fashion narrative. We will shoot a short, high-impact fashion film (approx. 2-3 minutes) that blends grunge, tech-wear, and high fashion, set against the city's most evocative locations: the towering red brick of the Beetham Tower, the Victorian ironwork of the Manchester Town Hall, and the raw, repurposed spaces of the Northern Quarter. The film will follow a single model as a 'digital pilgrim' navigating a landscape where the past and future collide. Each frame will be a carefully composed editorial image, blending the grit of the city's industrial remnants with sleek, avant-garde silhouettes. The narrative arc moves from dark, textured environments (Castlefield's canals, Deansgate's brutalist concrete) to the gleaming glass of Spinningfields, symbolising a rebirth. The project leverages the current trend of 'industrial chic' fashion cinematography, popularised by brands like Balenciaga and Off-White, and specifically ties it to a location with genuine textile history. We will source or create garments that incorporate elements like deconstructed denim, metallic mesh, and upcycled industrial fabrics, with bold, graphic makeup inspired by the city's iconic worker bee motif.
