This project reimagines Manchester as a character—its Victorian architecture, canal networks, and gritty Northern Quarter alleys become the backdrop for a modern film noir. Drawing on the city's rich industrial heritage and its transformation into a creative hub, the story follows a flawed protagonist uncovering secrets at a redeveloped mill complex. The film contrasts the gleaming new skyline (Beetham Tower, MediaCityUK) with the haunting remnants of the past (Castlefield viaducts, Ancoats mills). What sets this project apart is its use of Manchester's unique light and atmosphere: the overcast skies, the reflections on wet cobblestones, and the neon glow of Stevenson Square. The narrative will be driven by tension and visual storytelling, with a minimal crew working during the 'golden hour' and late-night shoots to capture the city's melancholic beauty. The final piece will be a tight 8-10 minute short film, ideal for festival submission or portfolio showcase.
