Launch at HOME Cinema Manchester screening event
This project will create a 5-7 minute atmospheric documentary that reveals Manchester's Northern Quarter through the eyes of those who inhabit it after sunset. The film will weave together the stories of late-night baristas, street cleaners, security guards, and artists working through the night, creating a portrait of a city that never truly sleeps. We'll capture the transformation of familiar streets as daytime commerce gives way to nocturnal activity, focusing on the human stories behind the glowing windows and empty pavements. What makes this unique is our focus on the 'invisible' workforce that maintains Manchester's night-time economy, combined with experimental sound design that blends ambient city noise with original musical compositions. We'll use innovative camera techniques to capture the Northern Quarter's distinctive architecture and street art in ways rarely seen, creating a portfolio piece that showcases both technical skill and emotional storytelling. The project will premiere at a local independent cinema before being released online, with potential for festival submission.
