This project merges portrait photography with live performance art to create a series of striking tableaux vivants (living pictures) set against London's most recognizable backdrops. We will select 5 iconic London archetypes—the Punk, the City Trader, the Pearly King/Queen, the Mod, and the Street Artist—and reimagine them through a contemporary, inclusive lens. The core of the project is a collaboration between a photographer, a stylist, and a versatile actor/model who will physically embody each character. The final images will be large-format portraits, shot on location at dawn to capture the city in a unique light. The project culminates in a one-day public 'living gallery' event on the South Bank, where the model will hold each pose in a designated frame, allowing the public to interact and photograph the 'art' in real-time. This blurs the line between photographer, subject, and audience, creating a dynamic, shareable experience. The project is unique for its fusion of static portraiture and live performance, turning the city itself into a stage and a gallery, and offering a fresh, performative take on the 'London character' genre.
