Thames Tides is an immersive dance performance staged on a floating pontoon that travels along the River Thames, from Greenwich to Westminster. The choreography responds to the rhythm of the tides and the iconic landmarks that line the riverbank. The performance integrates live music, spoken word, and projection art, creating a multisensory experience that celebrates London's maritime history and diverse culture. The project aims to capture the fluidity of London life, where past and present converge. Dancers will perform on the moving platform, their movements synchronized with the ebb and flow of the river, while projections on nearby buildings and bridges tell stories of the city's communities. The piece will be filmed and edited into a short film, offering a unique perspective of London from the water. This project is unique because it takes dance out of traditional venues and into the heart of London, making art accessible to all. It leverages current trends in immersive and site-specific performance, and addresses themes of climate change and urban transformation, making it both timely and timeless.
