Project Brief

This project captures the unique soundscape of Bewdley by blending field recordings from the River Severn, the historic bridge, and surrounding woodlands with original acoustic music. The goal is to create an immersive audio piece that serves as a modern sonic postcard of the town. The final track will combine ambient water sounds, bird calls, and the creak of wooden boats with a simple guitar or piano melody recorded on location. The piece will be recorded and mixed in a portable studio setup at key locations: the riverbank near the Bewdley Bridge, inside the Bewdley Museum’s old buildings, and along the Severn Valley Railway tracks (with permissions). The production will use the natural reverb of stone arches and open fields to shape the sound. The resulting track will be released on streaming platforms with a video of the recording process, showcasing the talent and the town’s beauty. What makes this unique is the combination of hyper-local audio authenticity with a polished, shareable format. It leverages the trend of ‘place-based’ music and ASMR-inspired soundscapes, and can be easily distributed online to attract visitors and highlight local creative talent.
