This project captures the hidden rhythms of London’s South Bank, from the mechanical hum of Tower Bridge to the riverside whispers of the Tate Modern. A small team will wander the Thames Path, collecting field recordings—water lapping, footsteps on cobbles, distant street performers—and then compose a multi-layered soundscape in response. The final piece blends these ambient textures with improvised live instrumentation (piano, cello, or modular synth), creating a meditative, site-specific listening experience. What makes this unique is its dual life: it will be released as an immersive stereo mix for headphones, and also as a geo-tagged ‘soundwalk’ map that listeners can follow in real time along the actual route. The project taps into the current trend of slow listening, psychogeography, and post-pandemic appreciation for outdoor spaces. By collaborating with a director/cinematographer, we can also produce a short visual film that pairs the music with time-lapse footage of the same locations, making the piece portfolio-worthy for all involved. The final deliverables will be a 10-15 minute audio track and a 3-5 minute visual film, both ready for streaming platforms and festival submission.
