This project is a visual art exploration of the parallels and contrasts between London and Hull, two cities linked by the River Thames and the Humber Estuary. Through documentary photography and mixed media, we will capture the essence of daily life, architecture, and community in both locations, highlighting themes of post-industrial regeneration, cultural identity, and the evolving relationship between people and their waterways. The final output will be a series of 20-30 large-format photographic prints, accompanied by audio interviews and a short film, exhibited in both cities simultaneously. What makes this unique is the dual-city perspective, offering a fresh narrative that challenges the London-centric view of the UK, while celebrating the distinct character of Hull. The project leverages current trends in socially-engaged art and hyperlocal storytelling, creating a portfolio-worthy body of work that resonates with contemporary audiences.
