This project is a short documentary that explores the rich tapestry of human stories unfolding daily in the New York City subway system. We will travel across multiple lines—from the elevated tracks of the 7 train in Queens to the deep platforms of the 1 train in Manhattan—capturing candid interactions, quiet reflections, and the unique rhythm of the city below. The film will weave together observational footage with brief, unscripted interviews with commuters, musicians, and station employees, revealing the beauty and chaos that defines this iconic transit network. What makes this project unique is its focus on the subway as a living, breathing ecosystem rather than just a mode of transport. By using a mix of handheld and static camera work, we'll create an immersive experience that feels both intimate and grand. The final film will be edited to a rhythmic, ambient score that complements the natural sounds of the subway—trains screeching, doors opening, and footsteps echoing.
