This project celebrates the vibrant, ever-changing visual language of New York City's iconic neon signs. From the timeless glow of Times Square to the quirky storefronts of Chinatown and the gritty charm of the Lower East Side, we will document these illuminated landmarks and transform them into a cohesive, large-format art series. The project taps into the current trend of 'liminal spaces' and 'urban nostalgia', offering a fresh perspective on familiar cityscapes. Our creative vision is to capture these signs not just as photographs, but as emotional anchors of the city's diverse neighborhoods. Each image will be a study in color, typography, and atmosphere, with a moody, cinematic aesthetic. We'll experiment with long exposures to capture light trails and reflections on rain-slicked streets, and then use post-processing to enhance colors, add texture, and create a painterly, dreamlike quality. The final series will be a visual love letter to New York, appealing to both locals and those who dream of the city. The uniqueness of this project lies in its hybrid approach: blending classic street photography with modern digital art techniques. The team will work as a cohesive unit, scouting locations, shooting throughout the night, and collaborating on the final visual style. The result will be a portfolio-ready series suitable for gallery presentation, online publication, or even a limited-edition print run.
