Launch at the end of week 4
This project reimagines the iconic street art of Manchester's Northern Quarter, blending traditional mural painting with digital interactivity. Using AR technology, we will create a mural that comes to life when viewed through a smartphone, animating the artwork and revealing hidden stories about the area's music and fashion history. The final piece will be a dynamic fusion of physical painting and digital animation, celebrating Manchester's creative spirit and the community's vibrant past. The creative vision draws from the Northern Quarter's famous indie music scene and its evolution as a hub for creatives. The mural will feature a collage of local symbols: the Viaduct, Affleck's Palace, and record shops, all reimagined in a surreal, animated style. The team will work with local historians and musicians to weave authentic narratives into the artwork, making it a true collaboration between old and new Manchester. What makes this unique is its dual existence: a stunning physical mural that stands on its own, and an interactive digital experience that deepens the viewer's connection to the place. It's perfect for social media, tourism campaigns, and as a portfolio piece for artists interested in creative tech.
