Project Brief

This project creates a unique, synchronous performing arts experience that physically and thematically links two distinct UK cities. The core concept is a 'mirrored' narrative performed simultaneously in Hull and London. Audiences in each city follow a local performer on a curated journey through iconic locations, with key narrative beats and emotional moments synchronized via live audio feeds and pre-recorded video elements. The story explores the universal themes of longing, connection, and the search for identity within a sprawling urban landscape, asking whether a soul can be split between two places. What makes this project unique is its hyper-local specificity paired with a connective technological thread. It leverages the stark architectural and cultural contrasts between Hull's maritime heritage (The Deep, Humber Street, Hull Minster) and London's global metropolis (Tate Modern, Millennium Bridge, Gabriel's Wharf) to tell one cohesive story. The production will be documented to create a compelling portfolio piece that demonstrates innovative, location-responsive theatre and cross-city collaboration—a standout in the evolving field of immersive and distributed performance.
