Project Brief

This project is a poetic short documentary that explores the hidden creative connections between Hull and London — from Hull’s historic Old Town and the Humber estuary to London’s bustling South Bank and Shoreditch. The film will follow a local Hull artist (a musician, poet, or visual artist) as they journey to London to collaborate with a London-based creator, weaving together interviews, raw footage, and stylized montages. The narrative will highlight how each city’s distinct character influences the artist’s work, culminating in a shared performance or installation in a London venue that echoes Hull’s maritime heritage. What makes this unique is its focus on the ‘creative corridor’ — a concept rarely explored in film. By contrasting Hull’s gritty, historic port vibe with London’s fast-paced digital culture, we create a visual dialogue that feels both intimate and epic. The film will use handheld cameras for authenticity, drone shots of the Humber Bridge and the Thames, and a soundtrack blending Hull’s folk/trip-hop scene with London’s underground electronic beats. It’s a love letter to both cities and a proof-of-concept for cross-regional creative collaboration.
