Project Brief

This project creates a visual narrative that bridges Ilorin's rich cultural heritage with contemporary fashion sensibilities. We'll produce a high-fashion editorial series featuring modern garments constructed from traditional Aso Oke, Adire, and locally woven fabrics, styled with urban streetwear elements. The concept explores how young Ilorin creatives can reinterpret their cultural identity through fashion, creating pieces that honor tradition while speaking to global trends. What makes this unique is our location-specific approach: we'll shoot at the iconic Emir's Palace gates, the ancient Okuta Ilorin market textile stalls, and the geometric architecture of the University of Ilorin. We'll collaborate with local tailors and fabric merchants to source materials, ensuring authenticity while creating entirely new garment silhouettes. The project will culminate in a digital lookbook and social media campaign that positions Ilorin as an emerging fashion hub, blending the city's dual Yoruba-Nupe heritage with contemporary design innovation.
