Project Brief

This project captures the pulse of London through a series of intimate, site-specific monologues performed along the River Thames. The concept is simple yet powerful: each performer shares a personal story tied to the river and the city—love, loss, migration, memory—while standing on the iconic foreshore. The monologues are filmed against the backdrop of landmarks like Tower Bridge, the Shard, and the Houses of Parliament, creating a cinematic tapestry of urban life. The creative vision is to blend theatrical performance with documentary realism. We will cast 3-4 diverse performers from London’s rich talent pool, each embodying a distinct voice: a recent immigrant, a lifelong Cockney, a young artist, an elderly historian. Their words will be original, co-written in workshops, then rehearsed for a single, powerful take. The film will use natural sound—lapping water, distant sirens, seagulls—to ground the performances in authentic London atmosphere. What makes this project unique is its fusion of performance and place. It’s not just a film; it’s a love letter to London, using the Thames as a stage. The final deliverable is a 5-7 minute short film suitable for festivals and online platforms. It leverages the viral trend of 'place-based storytelling' and the growing appetite for authentic, personal narratives. This is a portfolio piece that showcases directorial vision, performance nuance, and post-production skill.
