This project transforms a rooftop in the Theater District into a living stage, creating a 20-minute immersive performance that weaves dance, spoken word, and live music into a narrative about the city that never sleeps. Four performers will interact with the skyline, the crowds below, and each other, using the city's iconic signage as a backdrop and light source. The piece is designed to be filmed from multiple angles for a final short film, but also performed live for a small invited audience once. The uniqueness lies in the tension between the intimate rooftop space and the overwhelming scale of Times Square. Performers will use wireless microphones and subtle lighting to ensure the performance is both visceral and cinematic, capturing the electricity of New York's most famous intersection in a way that feels personal and raw. The narrative will explore themes of anonymity, connection, and the search for authenticity in a hyper-commercialized environment. This project is an opportunity for performers to push their craft in a non-traditional space, creating work that is both avant-garde and deeply rooted in the energy of New York City. The final deliverables will be a polished short film and a set of behind-the-scenes content for social media, perfect for building a portfolio in immersive and site-specific performance.
