This project creates a powerful dual-screen performance piece that explores the contrasting identities of Hull and London. Two performers embody the spirit of each city—one, a figure of stoic resilience inspired by Hull's maritime heritage and the Humber's vast, moody landscapes; the other, a dynamic, fast-paced persona reflecting London's relentless energy and urban density. Through movement, gesture, and spoken word, the piece examines themes of identity, belonging, and the search for meaning in two very different British cities. The production will be filmed in two distinct phases: first in Hull, utilizing the dramatic backdrop of The Deep, the historic marina, and the iconic Humber Bridge; then in London, capturing the electric atmosphere of the South Bank, the gritty texture of Shoreditch, and the glass towers of Canary Wharf. The two films will be edited into a single split-screen narrative, with synchronized movements and choreography that create a visual dialogue between the performers, culminating in a final sequence where they seem to reach out and connect across the screens. This innovative format leverages the current trend of dual-screen storytelling and immersive digital theatre, making it perfect for online platforms. The final piece will be a high-concept art film, designed to be shared on social media as a triptych of short vertical teasers, a full-length split-screen video on YouTube, and a behind-the-scenes documentary. It is a portfolio-worthy project that showcases the performers' range, the director's vision, and the editor's skill, while celebrating the unique character of both cities.
