The River's Witness is an immersive theatre piece that transforms the historic riverside of Bewdley into a living stage. The performance weaves together stories of the town's past floods, its industrial heritage, and its enduring connection to the water. Through a fusion of physical theatre, poetic narration, and ambient soundscapes, audiences are guided along a route from the Georgian Bridge, past the old warehouses, to the river's edge at dusk. This project is unique in its use of the river itself as both a backdrop and a character. Using natural light and the changing river flow, the performance evolves with each showing. The narrative incorporates local folklore and historical accounts, creating a deep resonance with the community. The small team will collaborate to adapt the script and staging to the specific nooks and crannies of Bewdley's waterfront, ensuring each performance feels fresh and intimately connected to the location.
