This project aims to capture the unique spirit of Ilorin, the 'City of Harmony,' by blending traditional Yoruba visual motifs with contemporary digital collage techniques. We will focus on the city's defining contrasts—the ancient Oja Oba market against modern architecture, the serene Emir's Palace juxtaposed with bustling Taiwo Road, and the scholarly atmosphere of the University of Ilorin. The core concept is to deconstruct photographs of these locations into vibrant geometric shapes and patterns, then reassemble them into striking digital artworks that feel both timeless and modern. What makes this project unique is its integration of Yoruba proverbs (Òwe) directly into the visual language. Each artwork will be built around a proverb that reflects the essence of the featured location, with the typography and composition of the text becoming an integral part of the design. The final series will be a portfolio-worthy collection that celebrates Ilorin's cultural heritage while positioning it firmly within the global trend of digital art and Afrofuturism. It's a project designed to showcase the city's beauty to both local and international audiences.
