Launch on Kwara State Cultural Day
Kwara Chronicles transforms Ilorin's urban landscape into a living stage for a narrative dance journey. The project follows a single dancer who embodies the spirit of the city, moving through locations that represent different eras of Ilorin's history—from the ancient walls of the Emir's Palace to the modern architecture of Kwara State University. Each location inspires a unique movement vocabulary that blends traditional Yoruba dance forms (like Bata and Gbedu) with contemporary street dance and afrofusion styles. This project uniquely positions Ilorin as both setting and character in a performance piece designed for digital consumption. By merging heritage with contemporary expression, we create a portfolio piece that celebrates local culture while participating in the global trend of location-based digital performance. The final film will be structured as a three-act journey: 'Ancestral Foundations' (historical sites), 'Present Rhythms' (everyday city life), and 'Future Movements' (modern architecture).
