This project is a short documentary that explores the resurgence of the Northern Soul movement in Manchester, a city with deep roots in this iconic music scene. We'll follow local DJs, dancers, and collectors as they keep the spirit alive in venues like the legendary Twisted Wheel and contemporary spaces like The Warehouse Project. The film will interweave archival imagery with modern-day footage, creating a dialogue between past and present, and showcasing how this 60s and 70s subculture is being reinterpreted by a new generation. Our creative vision is to produce a high-energy, visually striking piece that captures the raw passion and community of Northern Soul. We'll use a mix of handheld cameras for intimate backstage moments, and cinematic slow-motion to emphasize the athletic, soulful dance moves. The soundtrack will feature classic Northern Soul tracks, blended with ambient sounds of the city, creating an immersive audio-visual experience.
