Tidal Tales is a site-specific performance piece that explores the parallel lives of London and Hull through the metaphor of the River Thames and the Humber Estuary. The creative team will devise a 30-minute promenade performance that moves through iconic locations in both cities, blending spoken word poetry, contemporary dance, and live acoustic music. The piece will be developed through a series of workshops with local artists and community members, capturing the unique spirit of each location. The performance will be filmed as a cinematic short film and also presented as a live event in Hull's Old Town and London's South Bank. The project leverages the current trend for immersive, location-based storytelling and hybrid live/digital experiences. By collaborating with a local historian and a poet from each city, the ensemble will create a narrative that feels authentic and resonant, celebrating the cultural heritage and contemporary vibrancy of both places. What makes this project unique is its dual-city structure, creating a dialogue between the two locations and offering a fresh perspective on regional identity. The final film will be submitted to local and national film festivals, and the live performance will be a highlight of the summer cultural calendar.
