Project Brief

This project reimagines Manchester's iconic Northern Quarter as a neon-drenched dreamscape. Through a series of 10-15 large-format photographic prints and accompanying digital assets, we will transform the district's famed independent shops, street art, and cobbled streets into a vibrant, otherworldly visual narrative. The concept fuses documentary-style street photography with bold, graphic digital collage, overlaying abstract neon shapes, text fragments, and geometric patterns onto real architectural details. The result is a portfolio that speaks to Manchester's identity as a city of reinvention, blending its industrial past with a hyper-modern, creative future. What makes this project unique is its hyper-local focus combined with a trend-forward aesthetic: the use of neon gradients and glitch-inspired collage is currently popular in editorial and advertising visuals. By shooting in the Northern Quarter's Stevenson Square, Tib Street, and the Thomas Street area, we capture the authentic grit and charm of Manchester while elevating it into a fine-art series. The final deliverables will be exhibition-ready prints and a suite of social media assets, perfect for building a strong visual identity for any director or artist's portfolio. The small team will work collaboratively, with the director overseeing the creative vision and the photographer/collage artist executing the final pieces.
