Launch date: Week 4 (Monday 10am)
This project is a modern-day cultural exchange, reimagined for the content era. A creative from Hull—known for its fishing heritage, The Deep, and emerging arts scene—and a creative from London—immersed in Shoreditch's influencer culture and Notting Hill's aesthetic—will co-create a 4-part series. Each episode flips the lens: one day in Hull's Fruit Market district, the next in a London rooftop studio. The twist? They swap roles: the Hull creative curates a London 'authenticity' challenge, while the Londoner navigates Hull's unpolished charm. The concept plays on the UK's north-south divide, challenging stereotypes and celebrating local quirks. Think: a vintage market haul in Hull's Old Town vs. a thrift find in Brick Lane; a fish-and-chip picnic at Hull Marina vs. a sourdough brunch in Hackney. The series will blend vlog-style authenticity with cinematic slow-motion montages, using shallow depth-of-field to romanticize the ordinary. The final output is a 6-minute compilation video and 12 Instagram/TikTok Reels—perfect for a portfolio piece that showcases versatility, storytelling, and on-the-ground grit. This leans into the 'duality' trend (contrasting lifestyles) and the rise of 'anti-aesthetic' content (raw, unpolished realness). The Hull locations offer a fresh, overlooked canvas—its cobbled streets, Humber Bridge, and creative quarter contrast starkly with London's polished parks and neon-lit streets. The project will be shot over two weekends, with pre-production via video calls and post-production split between both cities.
