Mumbai Monsoon Reverie is a 12-minute short film that captures the city's transformative relationship with the annual monsoon through intimate, interconnected vignettes. Our protagonist, Arjun, is a photographer who has retreated from social life after personal loss, finding solace only in capturing empty urban landscapes. When the monsoon arrives, he begins a project to document how rain changes the city—but instead finds himself drawn to the stories of people he encounters: a chai wallah who dances in downpours, a grandmother teaching her granddaughter to float paper boats, a street musician whose sitar sounds different in the humidity. The film explores how weather becomes a collective emotional experience in a megacity, where the monsoon simultaneously disrupts and connects millions of lives. Using minimal dialogue and emphasizing sensory immersion, we'll create a portrait of Mumbai that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant—a meditation on grief, renewal, and the unexpected connections that form when the skies open up.
