This project will capture the soul of Ilorin through a series of interconnected vignettes that reveal the city's dual identity as both a historic Emirate capital and a modern university town. We'll follow three distinct characters whose daily lives intersect with Ilorin's most iconic yet overlooked spaces: a traditional dye maker at the Oja-Oba market, a university student navigating between campus life and family traditions, and a night watchman who witnesses the city's transformation after dark. The film will employ a hybrid documentary-fiction approach, blending observational footage with carefully crafted moments that highlight the poetic tension between preservation and progress. What makes this project unique is its focus on the 'in-between' spaces of Ilorin—the moments when traditional drumming echoes through modern shopping complexes, when indigo-dyed fabrics hang beside satellite dishes, and when the call to prayer from the Central Mosque harmonizes with generator hums across the city.
