Manhattan Metamorphosis is a site-specific, interactive live art installation that reimagines a public space in New York City as a living, breathing artwork. Set against the iconic backdrop of the High Line and the Manhattan skyline, the installation invites passersby to contribute to a constantly evolving urban mural using motion-triggered light projections and soundscapes that echo the city's rhythms. The project celebrates the diversity and energy of New York, turning the everyday commute into a collective creative act. Over the course of three weekends, our team will transform a section of the High Line into an immersive experience, with live performances, interactive light art, and a generative soundscape. Using custom software and ephemeral materials, we will craft a space that reacts to the movement and presence of the audience, creating a unique moment of connection between the city, its residents, and the art. The final piece will be documented as a short film and photo series, showcasing the installation's impact and the stories of the people who helped create it. What makes this project unique is its fusion of technology, public participation, and location-specific narrative. By referencing the High Line's history as a railway and its rebirth as a park, the installation weaves themes of transformation and resilience. The project not only provides a stunning visual spectacle but also fosters a sense of community and belonging in the heart of New York City.
