Project Brief

Wanderlust is a groundbreaking immersive theatre experience that transforms the landscapes of Surrey and London into a living stage. The audience, guided by a mysterious audio narrative and subtle cues from performers, embarks on a personal journey of discovery. The first act takes place in the rolling hills and ancient forests of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where participants interact with characters like a wandering poet, a lost cartographer, and a ghostly Victorian naturalist. The journey culminates in a second act along London's South Bank, weaving through the Tate Modern, under the Shadow of the Shard, and concluding with a private, intimate performance in a hidden courtyard off the Thames Path. This project leverages the current trend of 'hybrid reality' experiences, combining live actors, site-specific staging, and an optional AR layer (accessed via smartphone) that reveals hidden stories and visual effects tied to each location. The production is designed for a small ensemble of 4-6 multi-skilled performers who can adapt to the demands of both natural and urban environments, offering a portfolio-worthy demonstration of innovative storytelling and location-based performance.
