This project captures the raw energy of Manchester's contemporary music scene through a series of visually stunning performance films set against the city's most atmospheric backdrops. We'll follow three emerging Manchester-based musicians from different genres (electronic, post-punk, and neo-soul) as they perform original compositions in locations that reflect Manchester's industrial heritage and creative resurgence. The film will intercut these performances with intimate documentary moments shot in recording studios, rehearsal spaces, and the artists' favorite Manchester haunts. What makes this unique is the fusion of high-production music video aesthetics with authentic documentary storytelling, creating a portrait of Manchester's music ecosystem that feels both epic and personal. We'll leverage the city's distinctive visual character—from the Victorian architecture to the street art of the Northern Quarter—to create a work that celebrates Manchester's enduring musical legacy while spotlighting its current innovators.
