This project is a cinematic love letter to Malta's capital, Valletta, shot entirely during the 'golden hour' of dawn. The team will use advanced time-lapse techniques to document the UNESCO World Heritage city's architecture, narrow streets, and grand piazzas as they transition from silent night to bustling day. The final film will juxtapose the stillness of empty streets with the explosive energy of sunrise, creating a visually arresting piece that showcases Malta's unique light and history. The creative vision is to tell a story without words, using only the movement of light, shadows, and the occasional early riser to convey the soul of the city. We will focus on iconic locations like St. John's Co-Cathedral, the Upper Barrakka Gardens, and the Triton Fountain, but also explore hidden alleyways known only to locals. The project leverages current trends in 'slow cinema' and 'city soundscapes', with a final edit that pairs the visuals with a bespoke ambient electronic score. The result will be a portfolio piece that demonstrates technical skill in time-lapse photography, color grading, and sound design, while also serving as a unique tourism asset for Malta.
