This project captures the unique sonic identity of the New York City subway system. Over two weeks, a team of musicians and sound designers will record ambient sounds from iconic stations like Grand Central, Times Square, and Atlantic Avenue—train rumbles, platform announcements, footsteps, and street musicians. These recordings will be layered with live cello, electronic beats, and vocal harmonies to create a 5-track EP that transforms urban cacophony into music. Each track will represent a different line or station, blending the raw energy of the underground with melodic composition. The final EP will be mixed and mastered for streaming, with accompanying visual art inspired by subway maps and graffiti. This project is a portfolio piece that showcases creativity, technical skill, and a deep connection to New York culture. What makes it unique: It uses the city itself as an instrument, turning everyday noise into a narrative. The team will collaborate in real-time in a shared studio, editing and composing on the fly, making the process as dynamic as the final product.
