This project captures the essence of London’s ever-changing soundscape by recording ambient sounds at five iconic locations—the rumble of the Tube, the chimes of Big Ben, the chatter of Borough Market, the birds of Hampstead Heath, and the hum of the Shard’s skyline. These recordings are then woven into a live, evolving ambient piece performed by a small ensemble. The final output is a 15-minute audio-visual experience that syncs the music with time-lapse footage and geographical data, creating a sensory map of the city. Unique to this project is the collaboration between sound engineers, a director, and a vocalist, blending field recordings with haunting melodies and spoken word poetry from local street artists. The result is a portfolio-worthy piece that feels both deeply rooted in London’s history and utterly contemporary.
