This project aims to revitalize the visual landscape of Ilorin by creating a series of large-scale murals in key historic and cultural districts. The murals will depict scenes from Ilorin's unique history—the convergence of Yoruba and Fulani cultures, the significance of the Emir's Palace, the vibrant Ita-Amo market, and the iconic Awon Masquerade festival. Each mural will be a modern interpretation of traditional motifs, using bold colors and contemporary techniques to appeal to younger audiences while respecting local heritage. The creative vision involves a small team of local and visiting artists collaborating with community historians and elders to ensure authenticity. The process will include community paint days, allowing residents to contribute small elements, fostering ownership and pride. The final murals will be documented through high-quality photography and time-lapse video for social media and portfolio use, creating a lasting cultural asset for the city.
