Namma Metro Chronicles is a 3-part documentary series that explores the personal narratives of passengers on the Purple Line, from Byappanahalli to Kengeri. Each episode focuses on a different theme: love and longing, ambition and hustle, and community and solitude. The series aims to paint a vivid portrait of Bengaluru's contemporary urban life through the lens of its metro system, blending observational footage with intimate interviews. The project leverages the current trend of hyperlocal storytelling and the growing popularity of short-form docuseries on streaming platforms. By focusing on the metro, a symbol of Bengaluru's modernization, we capture the city's heartbeat—its people. The series will be shot in a verité style with a warm, nostalgic color palette, interspersed with animated sequences illustrating the illustrated stories of commuters, created by a local illustrator. This blend of live-action and animation makes it unique and visually engaging. We aim to create a piece that resonates with both Bengaluru residents and a global audience, showcasing the universal human experiences within a specific cultural context. The final output will be a 3x10 minute series suitable for film festivals and online streaming, accompanied by a social media campaign with illustrated posters and short clips.
