This project reimagines Manchester's industrial heritage through a cutting-edge, immersive event. Held in the raw, post-industrial space of Mayfield Depot, 'Northern Lights' fuses the city's musical legacy (from The Hacienda to the current underground scene) with the ethereal beauty of the aurora borealis. The team will create a multi-sensory journey where projection-mapped light installations dance across the brickwork and steel columns, a custom soundscape blends ambient electronics with live instruments, and performers move through the crowd as illuminated 'spirits of the North'. Unlike a typical rave, this event is designed as a cinematic, walk-through experience. Attendees will be guided through different 'zones' – from a silent disco under a canopy of fiber-optic 'stars' inspired by the Manchester sky, to a bass-heavy main room where the Northern Lights pulse in sync with the music. The project leverages the trend for immersive, Instagrammable events, but grounds it in a deep connection to Manchester's industrial past and its reputation as a world-class music city. The final showcase will be a ticketed, one-night-only event, documented with professional film and photography to create a stunning portfolio piece. The project requires a collaborative team of creatives who can work together to build this ambitious, temporary environment and deliver an unforgettable experience that celebrates Manchester's unique identity.
