This project transforms forgotten industrial walls in Manchester's Northern Quarter into living canvases. We'll create a series of 3-4 large-scale illustrations depicting Manchester's textile heritage—spinning jennies, steam engines, canal workers—that appear static to the naked eye but come alive through an AR filter. When visitors scan the murals with their phones, the illustrations animate: steam billows from chimneys, looms clatter to life, and canal boats glide across brick walls. What makes this unique is the fusion of traditional illustration with cutting-edge AR technology, creating an accessible public art experience that bridges Manchester's industrial past with its digital present. The project will be documented as a digital portfolio piece and promoted as a free cultural trail, encouraging exploration of the city's creative quarters while honoring its working-class history. Each mural will include QR codes linking to historical context about Manchester's industrial revolution.
