Thames Pulse is an immersive physical theatre piece that unfolds along the South Bank of the Thames, from the London Eye to Tower Bridge. The performance combines contemporary dance, spoken word poetry, and live acoustic music, responding to the ever-changing river and cityscape. A small ensemble of performers will lead a promenade audience through a series of vignettes, each reflecting different aspects of London life: migration, commerce, creativity, and community. The creative vision draws on the river as a metaphor for constant flow and change, with the city as a backdrop that is both iconic and intimate. The piece is unique because it is site-specific, using the architecture, sounds, and rhythms of the South Bank as integral parts of the performance. It leverages current trends in immersive and outdoor theatre, offering audiences a participatory experience that is both accessible and profound. The project is designed for a small team of 3-6 creatives, including a director, choreographer, composer, and performers. It can be completed in 3 weeks, from initial rehearsals to final performance, and will result in a high-quality video documentation suitable for portfolios and festival submissions.
