Tide & Transit is a collaborative music project that captures the essence of two iconic water cities—London and Malta—through field recordings and electronic music. Over three weeks, a small team will travel to key locations in both cities, collecting ambient sounds: the rush of the Thames at dawn, the clatter of Maltese fishing boats, the hum of the London Underground, and the echoes of Valletta's limestone streets. These recordings will form the backbone of an original EP, produced by local electronic artists, with each track representing a different time of day and a distinct sense of place. The project merges music production with visual storytelling. A filmmaker will document the process, creating a short documentary that interweaves the recording sessions with the final compositions, highlighting the cultural contrasts and connections between London and Malta. The EP will be released alongside a 360-degree audio-visual installation, hosted at a venue in each city, allowing audiences to step into the soundscapes. This project is unique in its hyper-local focus, leveraging the rich auditory heritage of both locations and tapping into the growing trend of immersive, location-based art.
