Project Brief

This project is an ode to the rich textile heritage of Ilorin. We will capture the rhythm and colors of the local markets—particularly the Oja Oba and Mandate Market—where traders sell traditional fabrics like aso-oke, tie-dye, and damask. The film follows a day in the life of a young fashion designer who finds inspiration in these bustling stalls, blending the old with the new. Using a mix of slow-motion shots, handheld camera work, and deep interviews, we'll create a sensory experience that highlights the human stories behind the cloth. The uniqueness lies in fusing the city's historic Islamic influence with contemporary street fashion, showing how these traditions thrive in modern Ilorin.
