For one electrifying night, a disused car park or warehouse in Manchester's Northern Quarter will transform into 'The Concrete Carousel' — a raw, immersive fashion and music event. This project fuses a curated mini-runway show with live graffiti and digital projection mapping, celebrating the city's industrial heritage and its vibrant, contemporary street culture. The concept is simple but bold: models will walk a circular stage that resembles a carousel, but made of industrial scaffolding and reclaimed materials. Live artists will paint canvases that double as backdrop or wearable art. A local DJ spins the soundtrack — a mix of northern soul, electronic, and grime. The audience stands within the carousel itself, becoming part of the kinetic, 360-degree experience. The entire event is documented for a high-energy short film. This project is unique because it reclaims a forgotten urban space, creates a self-contained micro-world, and results in both a live audience experience and a cinematic portfolio piece. It taps into the global trend for 'anti-glamour' fashion presentations and the growing appetite for ephemeral, location-driven cultural events that can't be replicated.
